Patrick Djivas

Yan Patrick Erard Djivas (Cannes, May 23, 1947) is an Italian naturalized french bass player and composer, and a stable member of Premiata Forneria Marconi.

His musical career begins in 1964 playing Rhythm and Blues

In 1969 he moves to Italy with the Rocky Roberts band. In 1971 he creates progressive rock band AREA with Demetrio Stratos, Giulio Capiozzo and Gaetano Leandro, having met them in the recording of the Radius record by Alberto Radius. He enters PFM, the band in which he still plays today, in 1973

Critics worldwide appreciate PAtrick for his thecnique, extremely refined taste and loud energy, elements that make Patrick an unique bassist.

Since 1974 Patrick records the LPS of the "International" moment of PFM, and during his stay in the United States he develops a close friendship with bass giant Jaco Pastorius. In the same years he becomes acquainted with Leo Fender, with whom he develops a strong and long professional collaboration.

From the seventies 'till today, his activity with PFM never stops, and the band goes on tour everywhere, from Japan to Mexico, from Canada to Korea, from USA to Brazil.

The busy band gives light to their most excellent creations, from the 2005 rock opera Dracula and the DVD "Stati di Immaginazione", with videoclip and theme-based improvised music.

Besides music and his frenetic activity with PFM, Patrick works as a musical producer for TV, movies and theatre pieces, writing scores and jingles that are played everyday in nationwide broadcasts.

In 2004 he takes an interest in education, working with many musical magazines (Strumenti Musicali, Computer Music & Project Studio and others). In 2007 Patrick co-authors the "Cubase 4 - Guida completa" (Apogeo) book with computer-music guru Pier Calderan.
